Ensuring your child is  RESPECTFUL!

  • Help your child with understanding when to turn their microphone  and video on and off
  • Ensure that your child is dressed appropriately according to school dress code
  • Check that your child is eating before school and at breaks, not during instruction
  • Ensure that your child is using the teacher’s protocols for asking and responding to questions appropriately
  • Monitor your child’s usage of the chat box
  • Encourage your child to ask questions if there are misunderstandings.
  • Utilize this time to engage with the teacher in order to seek clarifications or express concerns
  • Plan ways to support your child with your child’s teacher

Ensuring your child is RESPONSIBLE!

  • Ensure that your child is on time
  • Establish routines for staying on schedule for all instructional blocks
  • Check that your child’s device is fully charged each morning
  • Ensure that your child has all the materials needed for class in an easily accessible place
  • Encourage your child to stay engaged and participate in the classroom activities
  • Check in with your child consistently to ensure they are not distracted
  • Work with your child’s teacher to check in and determine the progress of his/her learning.
  • Encourage your child to have conversations with his/her teacher to promote confidence in adult to student conversations

Ensuring your child is SAFE!

  • Provide an environment that encourages your student to be ready to learn
  • Ensure appropriate background
  • Notify household members when your child is engaging in live instruction (synchronous)
  • Monitor your child’s interaction to ensure respectful language and participation
  • Assist in alleviating any frustration your child may be experiencing
  • Communicate any concerns with your child’s teacher that may be disrupting their learning experience
